While on travel, I fished for a couple of hours on Tuesday May 20, Air temperature was 85 degrees and I believe the water temperature was low 50's. I fished the small lake and the river near the parking area off of 470 which is below the Chatfield Lake dam.
I tired to get some feeding smallmouth bass but no takers. Water in the river was running fast as a result of the mountain snows melting. Both the lake and the river were extremely clear. I could not find an area I didn't see the bottom.
Beautiful area though. I would definitely go back and fish the main Chatfield Lake.
